The Motor Medic Program began at the Daytona Beach Fire Department in 1994 as a pilot program with 5 riders and 2 surplus Kawasaki KZ1000 police motorcycles. Due to traffic congestion created by special events in our city (Biketoberfest, Speed Weeks, Bike Week, Springbreak, and Black College Reunion) fire /rescue apparatus response was hindered by pedestrian and motor vehicle gridlock. Motor Medics were a logical choice to reduce response times and improve service to our visitors and residents. Response times have decreased from 8-10 minutes to a 2-3 minute range using this innovative program.

Team members must complete a rigorous police motorcycle training school. They currently have seventeen team members and four Harley Davidson FLHPI ROAD KING motorcycles.

If you have never heard of Steve Coe or met him, now is the time. He is a vintage Class C Harley Racer who has raced for 15 years and finished every one of them, finished in the top 5 in some. You will find him probably towards the back of the pack most of the time, grinning and waving to the fans in the stands. He truly loves what he does and is even better at restoring his old bikes. He lives in Daytona Beach and has since 1973. Needing to put his stuff somewhere, he finally converted his semi trailer into a 48 foot Museum customized to fit and display some of his classic collection. See it!

William "Sidecar Willy" Nassau

A friend and a regular at the Cabbage Patch is Sidecar Willy. He tells the story of how and when he came up with the concept to race one-wheeled motorcycles -
